Women in Wellness
Health is Wealth
As high-achieving Women in Business, it can be easy to pour into everything else around us instead of prioritizing ourselves. And let’s face it, health is wealth. We need to focus on and prioritize our health including mental and physical.
It has been common to hear the saying, “I’m unwell.” Why is that? Well, we are burning the candle at both ends. ( Do you feel seen hearing this??) 👀
Our Programs team decided to dedicate an entire meeting for the Nashville chapter that focuses on wellness. It was our first Heels meeting, sans the Heels.
We met at Sambuca right in downtown Gulch for drinks, and light bites and curated an activity to meet new women by finding their matching scrunchie.
Meeting Recap
We brought in 3 experts to talk about moving our bodies, and how to nourish our bodies and then we talked about the mind and body.
3 Takeaways from Workplace Stress Solutions:
Reset & Restart as much as needed
Check on your goals. Don’t set & Forget.
Move the deadline not the goal.
5 Takeaways from Music City Nutrition:
- Ditch the Diet Mentality: Understanding our internal hunger and fullness cues becomes challenging when we are stuck in a diet mindset. Shifting away from this mentality is crucial for consistent eating habits.
- Plan: Planning for the week doesn't mean spending your entire Sunday meal prepping. Instead, create a flexible plan that outlines 70-80% of your meals, giving you a sense of structure without rigidity.
- Incorporate Your Favorite Foods: Avoiding your favorite foods because they are deemed "unhealthy" is not a sustainable approach. Instead, include a bit of these foods in balanced meals to maintain satisfaction and enjoyment.
- Embrace Whole Foods: Wherever possible, include whole foods in your diet. This approach, known as "nutrition by addition," fosters a positive and sustainable relationship with food, focusing on what you can add rather than restrict.
- Balance Every Meal: Don't forget to include protein, fiber, and healthy fats in every meal. These nutrients are essential for maintaining energy, satiety, and overall health.
STRIDE Fitness Brought the energy and led everyone in a light movement exercise to energize the body. We had so much fun in the short 15-minute workout. We highly recommend going to their location in West End to take one of their classes.
Thank you to our partners for making this meeting a huge success.
