Stay flexible and be willing to pivot when necessary

Anna Redman | Subtle Haus

It’s no secret we attract high-achieving women in our community. This week we are delighted to chat with Anna Redman, CEO of Subtle Haus, and learn about her inspiring entrepreneurial journey from creative copywriter to owner of a thriving members-only space for creatives. Follow along below as we go, “In Her Heels.”

How did you enter into your industry?

Subtle Haus is the culmination of all my creative experiences and passions. My journey began as a copywriter at a creative advertising agency, where I thrived in a collaborative environment and enjoyed all the fantastic perks that supported our side-hustles. Transitioning to freelancing, I loved the freedom but missed the vibrant, resource-rich environment of my old office. I longed to recreate that sense of community and provide access to high-end resources like photography studios and sound equipment—things that are often costly to rent individually.

So, last year, I finally had the chance to turn this dream into reality, blending my creative drive with a touch of serendipity. That’s how Subtle Haus was born—a space designed to nurture creativity, foster collaboration, and build a supportive community. My path from copywriter to owning a creative co-working space was a natural evolution, driven by my passion and a bit of lucky timing!

Did you always know you wanted to have this career?

Not exactly! I always knew I had a creative spark, but I didn’t have a clear picture of where it would lead. I envisioned a career in advertising and writing, but as I explored different avenues, I discovered my passion for content creation and entrepreneurship. It’s been an exciting ride of finding new ways to blend my interests!

If you could tell yourself one thing when you first started your career, what would it be?

I’d tell my younger self to stop worrying about what others think and let go of the people-pleasing tendencies. Embrace your uniqueness and don’t be afraid to stand out—confidence and authenticity are crucial for both personal and professional success.

How do you manage imposter syndrome?

When imposter syndrome creeps in, I remind myself that I’m exactly where I’m meant to be and that my hard work has earned me this spot—my resume is proof of that! To tackle those pesky feelings of doubt, I focus on my accomplishments and what I do best. Surrounding myself with supportive people and immersing myself in creative projects also helps boost my confidence. And yes, sometimes a little pep talk in the mirror does wonders too!

Where are we likely to find you on the weekends or when you aren't working?

On weekends, you’ll probably catch me creating content for social media, exploring the candle section at Anthropologie, picking up fresh flowers at Trader Joe’s, or cozying up on the couch with my dog. I love grabbing a slice at my favorite pizza spot in Old Town with my partner, and if I’m really lucky, you might even spot me enjoying a fun GNO with my besties!

Name 3 things you cannot live without

I cannot live without my phone (for staying connected and capturing moments), a good cup of coffee (essential for productivity), and my dog (I love her so much).

What are you currently listening to? Podcast? Favorite song that motivates you?

My Spotify wrap consists of Taylor Swift, Crime Junkies, and all the folk music on "Jersey Giant by Evan Honer and Julia DiGrazia" radio.

How do you get yourself out of a funk when you are having an off day?

To lift my spirits, I start with a short walk—it's amazing how much a bit of fresh air can help! I also light my favorite candle; there's something about the scent of a pumpkin spice Anthropologie candle that just makes me feel happier. Finally, I make plans for something to look forward to, whether it's a cozy dinner, a game night, or even a big trip. Having something on the calendar always helps me get out of a funk and brings a little excitement back into my routine.

What would surprise us about yourself?

I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty on a project and this comes from the one summer in college I worked highway construction and filled literal potholes.

What is the best advice you have received?

Adapt and Innovate: Stay flexible and be willing to pivot when necessary. The business landscape (and life in general) is constantly evolving, so innovation and adaptability are crucial for long-term success and staying mentally sane.

What are some career highlights and biggest career accomplishments?

Aside from launching Subtle Haus, I enjoyed a successful career in copywriting! By the time I was 22, I had three commercials airing on TV and even played a part in a billboard campaign right in the heart of Times Square.

What is something you are excited to be working on?

We are constantly working on new projects from Subtle Haus. We are currently planning a Headshots event where people can buy tickets and walk away with three professional headshots. We’re also launching a weekly newsletter packed with fashion and content tips to keep you inspired. On a personal note, I’m working on a 30-day hair series for my social channels—I've been pre-recording and can't wait to share it with everyone!
