HEELS & HANDSHAKES NASHVILLE: Check Yo’ Self
Being burned out is an issue of bandwidth, not capability. We all have only so many hours in a day, so much energy, so many resources.
- Lauren Ruth Martin, Nine to Kind
Our Nashville chapter convened in downtown Nashville at The Bankers Alley Hotel for our October event. We had another sold-out meeting!
We enjoyed an awesome luncheon filled with networking, light bites, and drinks, not to mention many 90s pop music references (Ice Cube anyone?) There were many important topics covered, from self-compassion and stress management to estate and succession planning, not to mention our speakers' recommended "playlists" for financial bad assery and self-care.
Here is a brief recap of the wisdom dropped by our powerhouse panel featuring Mridu Parikh, Life is Organized, Lauren Ruth Martin, Nine to Kind, and Allison Manning-Carroll, Manning Carroll Law. Britney Campbell with Presentning Sponsor Her Bank led the panel.
Moderator Britney Campbell asked if “Mo Money, Mo Problems” holds true. Lauren and Allison agreed, explaining that with success comes increased responsibility. Allison shared her personal experience of feeling overworked, even after achieving financial goals, which led her to restructure her business and build a team. Setting aside time for self-care is critical to avoid burnout, even for successful business owners!
Our panel also discussed how ADHD impacts their work lives. Productivity expert Mridu (aka “The Stress Squasher”) shared that women often feel overwhelmed because they’re stretched too thin. Mridu shared a tip about intentionality, inspired by Oprah, stressing the importance of staying focused on one task at a time. Lauren added that procrastination can sometimes be intentional and helpful. Allison concluded by talking about dealing with burnout through honest time management and creating realistic to-do lists.
Burnout is a common experience shared by most women, especially for high-achievers balancing careers, family, and personal goals. Many of us push ourselves to the limit, often ignoring early signs. As Lauren said, burnout is less about capability and more about running out of bandwidth. Britney highlighted the importance of setting boundaries and finding grace for yourself during tough times.
One key to preventing burnout is creating moments of self-care and intention. Mridu suggests giving yourself permission to rest without guilt. Whether it’s watching TV (Housewives was definitely a binge fave from our panel) or taking a break, the intention behind it can make all the difference in how you feel afterward. Finally, routine check-ins and rituals can help you stay grounded, while prioritizing health is crucial—especially for busy moms. And what better time than October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, to remind us to make that mammogram appointment?
A few of the playlist must haves for navigating life and work from our panel:
Good music, of course! (ranging from hype music for productivity to chill music for relaxing)
An emotional support water bottle
Asana
A Pomodoro app
Community
The Nine to Kind Possibility Planner (from panelist Lauren)
Life can be stressful. Be mindful of your limits, lean on your community, and embrace moments of rest and self-care.
We wrapped up this incredible session with a new twist on Eminem's epic "Lose Yourself." It was definitely a power-packed mixtape of insights, strategies and real talk for real life!

Feel For Your Life was created by Jessica Baladad, a cancer patient who uses her experience with a life-altering diagnosis to equip you to be seen, heard and understood in your medical care. We highly recommend downloading their app. Last but not least, thank you to The Benefits Group for partnering with us for this luncheon and providing resources for our attendees to extend top-tier benefits to their employees.
Twisted for Sugar brought the Snackactivations, Lush Photobooth captured the fun in their photo booth and NSAI provided us with slam poetry at the end of the program performed by Amanda Phillips.
If you were unable to join the Nashville Chapter for this program, we meet on the second Thursday of every month. This is a great way to make connections to other Nashville Women in Business and learn a new skill set for your personal or professional life. You can find the full calendar here.
