In her Heels with Tori Gilbert

Alabama Ambassador, Tori Gilbert

We couldn’t think of a better day to introduce our new Ambassador for the Birmingham market, then today on Tori’s Birthday!!

A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Tori graduated from the University of Alabama in 2013 with a degree in Hotel, Restaurant, & Meetings Management, with a concentration in event planning. She has 9 years of background in the event industry and currently is an Event Manager with Cheeriodicals, located in Birmingham.

In her free time, Tori enjoys fishing, traveling, and spending time with Addi, her rescue pup. In the fall, you can catch her cheering on her Alma Mater, the University of Alabama. Roll Tide!

How did you enter into the hospitality industry?
I received my degree in Hotel, Restaurant, and Meetings Management from the University of Alabama in 2013, and haven't looked back since!

What brought you to Alabama?
I was born and raised in Birmingham, AL, but moved to Dallas, TX in 2014 where I lived for six years. In the summer of 2020, I packed my things and moved back home to Birmingham. My favorite hidden gem of the city is the Market at Pepper Place. Best Farmer's market in Bham!

Where are we likely to find you on the weekends or when you aren't working?
My boyfriend and I are currently renovating a mid-century home. On the weekends, you can either catch me working on house renovations, or fishing at my parents house on Emerald Lake!

Name 3 things you cannot live without.
My family, sweet tea, and my dog Addi :)

What is the best advice you have received?
Always have a plan A, B, C and D for events! I always say as an event planner, my real title should be problem solver!

What are you currently listening to? Podcast? Favorite song that motivates you?
Every morning I start my day by listening to Up First Podcast by NPR! My current favorite song that motivates me is As It Was by Harry Styles.

What are some career highlights and biggest career accomplishments?
A big career highlight would be speaking in front of a 400 person event for my current job with Cheeriodicals and successfully executing the event. This team building event assisting in donating 400 Cheeriodicals comfort kits to hospitalized children and hospital frontline workers in the Boston area!

What would surprise us about yourself?
I love to golf and thanks to a lot of down time during Covid, I became an avid fisher!
