No is a complete sentence

We had the best time two weeks ago at our program, “Say No to Protect Your Yes” at The Chef & I. The Nashville Market meets on the second Thursday of every month and this month we wanted to make sure to talk about a topic that everyone could benefit from Boundaries. CEO, Erica Rains spoke to our members about the importance of protecting your “Yes” and how to avoid overcommitting yourself and burnout.

Key Takeaways

  • Collect People: Add people to your life that will bring you joy and can help you advance in your career. Build your own Advisory board. These people can also hold you accountable to make sure you are doing things that are needle movers.

  • Schedule more Green in your life calendar ( time for yourself)
When you look at your calendar, do you only see meetings and deadlines? That is exhausting, girl. Make sure each week you have time scheduled for YOU. Put this in green so you can look at your schedule at a glance and see where you have holes

  • Phrases to say no: I'm not the right fit, My Policy is… Or Not at this time.
One thing I love about our speaker Erica, she provided us with examples of what to say when you get those asks that you do not have the time or bandwidth for.

Thank you to everyone that attended our meeting; this was another sold-out event. Our members made fruitful connections, learned techniques to implement in their personal and professional life, and walked away with practical and tactical ways to protect their “Yes.”

If you haven’t been to the new location of Chef & I, RUN right now to make yourself a reservation. The vibe, the drinks, and the FOOD are all perfect. I am still thinking about those delicious Caramelized Cauliflower bites.
