In Her Heels with Angie Brantley
“We know that every one we meet is made with gifts, strengths and for a purpose. It is our hope to plant a seed in allowing young women to identify those gifts and strengths while finding confidence in who they are created to be. We do this through mentoring and fashion. We will begin with a curriculum developed to help these young women identify these strengths. They will also be welcomed into our upscale thrift store to pick out and take home clothing for free that best fits their needs.”-Angie Brantley.
Angie Brantley is the Founder and Executive Director of TenThirtyFive. Today we had the honor to highlight her and her non-profit and learn a little bit more about her why.
What brought you to Nashville?
I am a Nashville native. Grew up in Nashville, went to high school downtown at Hume Fogg and then MTSU in Murfreesboro.
Tell us about your history? What led you to start TenThirtyFive?
TenThirtyFive was a result of my own experience as a teen trying to navigate confidence in who I was and not realizing that I was letting other people determine my worth. This truth along with work experience for a juvenile court judge showed that many other young women were experiencing the same struggle, of making decisions from a place of insecurity and unknowingly letting others decide what they were worth. I always knew that I wanted to somehow encourage young women at this age in any way that I could. After a few conversations and brainstorming, the idea of TenThirtyFive was born. It would be a welcoming, safe space for young women to get the clothes and mentoring that could plant the seed for finding their strengths, passions and purpose.
